Maite Solas, a researcher at the University of Navarra Faculty of Pharmacy and Nutrition, has received the Pasqual Maragall Researchers Programme grant for her research on Alzheimer's Disease. Her project focuses on how astrocyte metabolism — cells that support and protect neurons — changes during the progression of Alzheimer’s and contributes to the disease.
The study, developed in collaboration with Jordi Durán from Universitat Ramon Llull – IQS, could lead to new strategies to slow down or even reverse the disease while protecting brain health. The grant is part of a €1.6 million research initiative funded by the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and the Adey Foundation to support innovative Alzheimer’s and neurodegenerative disease research projects across Spain.
